VolkerBrooks Stand Firm on Commitment to Sustainability

VolkerBrooks kicked off 2008 by becoming certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) after making a commitment to purchase all its timber from a legal and sustainable source.

The company's policies and procedures that ensure that all the timber it sources for manufacturing and the timber it sells on to clients is from legal, sustainable and well managed forests have been independently evaluated. The company now has full chain of custody certification.

Andy Barker, director at VolkerBrooks, said: "As a major supplier within the construction industry we believe that the way we conduct our business can make a real difference in protecting the environment. This is not only the case in the environment we work within, but also the environments we effect in our supply chain."
