Mytholmroyd

The £25m scheme of work for the client, the Environment Agency, includes the construction of new floodwalls, widening of the river channel and the construction of a new road and pedestrian bridges.

VolkerSite Services was approached by VBA to provide site and welfare accommodation for the duration of the two-year project, as well as a public liaison centre at the project hub in Mytholmroyd. The setup included a total of 60 CTX containex units with two balcony bays overlooking the project.
At peak occupancy, the project can accommodate up to 168 operatives with split shifts and up to forty members of staff.

With Mytholmroyd being the flagship scheme for VBA, setting the framework standard for the Environment Agency, it was critical to ensure that the first impressions of any visitors and clients was good.

With this in mind, the site was managed by 24-hour security with an automatic barrier on entrance. The compound is located site on a field, which was converted into the site compound, offering parking spaces for up to forty vehicles. Within the compound, there are numerous electrical car charging points.

Within the sixty-bay setup, the team created six separate meeting rooms. Each room was fitted with fully glazed windows to provide employees with the feel of a commercial office environment whilst in temporary site accommodation.

To accommodate all staff, VolkerSite Services designed various office layouts, ranging from large open plan offices to individual units.

Our team also installed a four-bay public liaison centre, which often attracts visitors to view the ongoing works on site and gain a greater understanding of the benefits the scheme will bring to the local area. The building was designed to be complaint with the Equalities Act 2010.
